The Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) has successfully concluded its online Students’ Union Government (SUG) and students’ association elections, marking another significant milestone in the University’s commitment to leveraging technology to promote transparency, efficiency, and credible student leadership processes.

The election exercise, which covered the Students’ Union Government as well as various departmental, faculty, and other recognized students’ associations, was conducted entirely through the University’s online electoral platform. The process comprised voter registration, nomination of candidates, screening, accreditation, and electronic voting, all of which were successfully executed in a secure and transparent manner.

The electoral exercise formally came to a close on Saturday, 4th July 2026, with the successful conduct of mock elections for qualifying associations. These mock elections provided an opportunity to validate electoral procedures and ensure that all eligible associations are adequately prepared for subsequent electoral activities using the University’s digital election platform.

The successful completion of the elections reflects the University’s continued investment in digital transformation and innovation in campus administration. The online electoral system ensured broad participation by eligible students while maintaining the integrity, fairness, and credibility of the electoral process.

The University Management, under the visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Isa Kida, is warmly appreciated for its unwavering support, guidance, and commitment throughout the planning and execution of the elections. The Management’s dedication to fostering democratic values and embracing technology has been instrumental in the success of this landmark exercise.

Appreciation is also extended to the Dean, Division of Student Affairs, members of the Electoral Committee, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Directorate, University staff, student leaders, candidates, and the entire student community for their cooperation, professionalism, and adherence to the electoral guidelines. Their collective efforts contributed significantly to the peaceful, transparent, and successful conduct of the elections.

The successful completion of the online elections further reinforces FULAFIA’s position as a forward-looking institution committed to innovation, accountability, and excellence in governance. The University remains dedicated to providing digital solutions that enhance service delivery while strengthening democratic participation among its students.
